Devin Apollon is a 21-year-old fashion aficionado from Miami, Florida, whose style flawlessly combines streetwear and sneakers with blouses and blazers. After quarantine commenced last spring, Devin quickly grew tired of wearing sweatpants everyday and instead decided to use the extra time to experiment with clothing and explore different looks. Since then she has become a constant source of style inspiration, admired online for both her creativity and confidence.
Devin was kind enough to guide Sheesh Magazine through a week’s worth of looks and share some much needed outfit inspiration and styling tips.
Monday
DEVIN APOLLON: This outfit is one of my favorites! I was running to get coffee with my sister and it was a little chilly so I decided to throw on this leather jacket from the shop SVC. I get a lot of my vintage leather and blazers from there. Then I have a white Brandy Melville tank top under, and these vintage Dolce and Gabbana striped pants that I’m obsessed with. I love mixing vintage with streetwear, so I put my Brazil Nike Dunks on and grabbed my green crossbody Bottega bag. Also, my chunky rings are from La Manso, which I color coordinated with my clothes, and finished off the look with some vintage Chanel sunglasses.
Tuesday
DEVIN APOLLON: I love this outfit because it is so comfortable, which is something I really care about and try to show through with my style. This top is from a vintage shop on Melrose, which I got when I went to visit my friend Lydia in LA. I layered this cartoon graphic tee with two basic gold necklaces that I always wear, and this blue Chrome Hearts necklace that matches so well. Next these jeans are from Denim by Orlee, and I get pretty much all of my vintage jeans from her. I love a baggy jean but I made sure to cinch the top so that the whole outfit wasn’t too baggy. Then I wore these comfy slippers from Frankie’s Bikinis that make me feel like I’m walking on a cloud. I’m kind of obsessed with the baggy jeans and slippers or slides look! This was the perfect relaxed outfit for my chill walk on the beach with my dog.
What are your go-to accessories for spicing up an outfit?
DEVIN APOLLON: Jewelry is a huge part of my style and I’m super obsessed with it. I’ve been loving chunky colored rings lately because you can wear them with anything and they automatically make the outfit more funky. Also, I’m obsessed with having fun nails and doing crazy designs with those. Vintage sunglasses are another staple of mine— that oversized 90s shape is so cute and I’m definitely inspired by old Beyoncé and Ciara music videos.
Wednesday
DEVIN APOLLON: My style is sometimes very tomboy but it also has the potential to be very girly, which you can see here! I love these pink low waisted pants I bought from Depop that are super 90s. They have silk ribbon little ties on the sides and I’m obsessed with that detail. I only wish I had a belly chain to wear with them! My top is also from Depop and has a really cool throwback print on it. Of course, I had to match my outfit with my pink hair clip from Emi Jay, which is my favorite hair accessory company. Finally, I wore some black platform Vans because I love pairing sneakers with every outfit to add a little bit of edge.
Thursday
DEVIN APOLLON: This is actually a super funky outfit for me because it gives such vintage Versace vibes but also includes black Air Forces, which I know a lot of people are skeptical about! This top is super silky and from the same vintage store on Melrose that I mentioned earlier. Honestly, this top is one of my favorites because it is so different from anything else I own. I wore it with some vintage Calvin Klein jeans, which I wear all the time, even though I usually prefer Levi’s. These pants are also from Depop and I got lucky they fit so perfectly! Again, I threw on my black leather jacket to match my Air Forces and black Bottega bag.
What pieces are essential staples in your wardrobe?
DEVIN APOLLON: I just got another pair of Nike Dunks recently and sneakers like that are probably my biggest staple. I also have a serious obsession with vintage jeans— I have a million in almost the same color but each fit a little bit differently so they give off a different look. Another huge thing for me is blazers, I think a sleek black blazer is essential because you can pretty much wear it with anything!
Friday
DEVIN APOLLON: This Mario Kart baby tee is my new prized possession. I am in love with it and thrifted it recently in Miami. The pants I wore with it are from Zara and have a cute little slit at the bottom. I swear these pants need to be in everyone’s wardrobe because they are so versatile and can be easily dressed up or dressed down. Just below, I have on my Nike Dunk Highs in the color pine green, another example of my sneaker obsession. Finally, I added my Vivienne Westwood pearl necklace and white Bottega shoulder bag to give the look a more girly vibe. This was a very comfy outfit that I loved wearing while running errands in the Design District.
Favorite Fit
DEVIN APOLLON: This outfit is from a while ago but is probably one of my favorite outfits I’ve ever worn. I’ve been loving these basic headbands lately, and I thought it really tied in this whole look. I’m wearing an anime baby tee that I got off Depop and I’m absolutely obsessed with it! It’s so fun and is definitely one of my favorites. I paired it with these yoga pants from I.AM.GIA which are super comfy. Finally, I completed the look with some black Havaianas flip flops— which I thought people were going to clown me for— but actually people really liked this look! I feel like with anything in fashion, even if you are wearing basic flip flops, if you do it the right way they can look really cool and unique.
Who are some of your style icons?
DEVIN APOLLON: Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid’s style combined is pretty much my aesthetic. I love how Bella reps so many cool vintage pieces and Hailey always kills it with the blazers. I also get a ton of style inspo from my friends like Lydia Campanelli, Amalie Star, and Renee Bellerive. I love them all and am so lucky to have been able to connect with them. I really enjoy seeing what my friends are doing clothing-wise and then trying to put my own spin on it. And, of course, I also love Devon Lee Carlson’s style— she is my ultimate style icon.
