Amy Sarah Reveals Her 5 Fave Fashion Businesses

Prepare yourself to find a newfound love for all things sustainable and creative after learning about London’s up-and-coming fashion icon. Amy Sarah started her relationship with and love for fashion after shifting to second-hand shopping and digitally documenting her outfits to share with the rest of the fashion community. Her influence has grown within the community over the years, as she has been able to “develop a career as a fashion content creator and stylist.”

Shopping second-hand has become a common pattern within Amy’s life as she turns to shopping at local charity shops, markets and on Vinted for all of her wardrobe essentials. She finds sustainability to be vital in her everyday outfits, as it’s the most eco-friendly method of finding high quality staple pieces that can be worn in a variety of ways. Knowing that shopping secondhand and through small businesses can be difficult for those who aren’t familiar with the extensive amount of niches and garments on the internet, Sheesh Mag has asked Amy Sarah to provide us with some tips and tricks to find some pieces that will fit into the dream closet you’ve been creating on Pinterest.

“When buying new one of the most important things is quality- so fabrics used, manufacturing processes and ethical standards of practice.” She makes sure to support brands that make it their mission to provide their consumers with vegan-friendly products and only buys second-hand garments that are made out of non-vegan materials so she isn’t “putting a demand on the materials being used” because the item “already exists and is fit for wear.”

Another important tip that Amy Sarah mentioned in your search for your new favorite pieces, is making sure that the clothing item is versatile and will serve long term as a “capsule piece.” Prepare yourself to live through Amy Sarah’s fashionable lens by enlightening yourself on five of her favorite brands and small businesses.

#1: Fanci Club

Although a bigger brand, Fanci Club provides Amy with lots of “inspiration from their pieces and their unique, fun styling”, which inclined her to incorporate similar patterns and details into her wardrobe. Their brand contains a variety of pieces featuring the ruffle and flower embellishment trends that are currently being displayed in the fashion industry.

#2: Jakke

Specializing in the production of faux fur coats, Jakke makes it their mission to provide fashionable individuals who value sustainability and are “against animal exploitation” in the production of clothing. Although known for their unique pieces, their brand paints a picture as to how paying attention to environmental impacts and maintaining a “circular fashion industry” in the production of clothing is important to reflect in fashion brands. Amy also wanted to highlight Jakke’s devotion to sustainability by teaming up with the Royal Trinity hospice and making it “so consumers can return their used pieces.”

#3: DODOORDO

Based on etsy, small business DODOORDO sells handmade crochet bags “made from recycled materials such as old clothes and curtains.” Take a look at her shop and find yourself falling in love with a one-of-a kind bag “full of character.”

#4: Finds

Finds is a unique approach to second-hand and sustainable shopping, because all of the shopping occurs through videos and provides “a fresh and more intimate shopping experience.” The platform contains several different sellers and niches, where you can find a variety of vintage pieces, as well as ones from small businesses. The app not only provides a different method of shopping for fashion lovers but has created a larger community of creative individuals who have brought their shops “to life through pop ups and events where customers can shop their favorite sellers IRL.”

#5: Styles

Another app which sells second-hand items is Styles, which is similar to Instagram and Pinterest. “I love this as a source of endless inspiration from people all over the world.” The atmosphere on the platform is more laidback, allowing for second-hand lovers all around the world to explore different people’s wardrobes and find inspiration for their own within them. Similarly to Finds, “Styles also host IRL events and have partnered with second-hand shopping brand Sellpy, to give users the chance to meet and shop.”
