2020 has brought about some crazy changes – one of them being drastic hair makeovers. Whether it be embracing life in a coronavirus world, a result of sheer boredom, or a simple ‘fuck you’ to what people think, our generation has been unleashing their wacky and creative ideas through some at-home hair dye, scissors and bleach. With hair salons being closed and hair appointments taking eons to book, it’s refreshing to see a sense of independence and spontaneity through this creative outlet.

SHEESH! put together a list of sensational hair inspiration that will be sure to bring out your adventurous side and possibly convince you to purchase a DIY hair kit on a whim.

1. Dua Lipa

Dua Lipa is undoubtedly 2020’s reigning champion of funky hairstyles. Much like everyone else, she got her hands dirty this lockdown in an attempt to experiment with coloring her hair pink. What separates her from us though? Anwar Hadid casually being her helping hand.

Take your E-girl contrast fringe one step further by dyeing the front sections of your hair a punky bright pink – this look will have heads turning.

2. Chris Klemens

If you watch Chris Klemens at all, you’ll know his fans go crazy for his at-home hair videos. As the founding father of impulsive, this-could-go-wrong-at-any-moment-but-I-don’t-care, DIY dye jobs, an eccentric transformation was bound to come out of his quarantine.

Though a bizarre hair choice, tie-dye is undoubtedly one of the biggest trends of the year. Tie-dye t-shirts, sweatpants, tote bags – you name it. So why not on the top of your head? If you’re not feeling a rainbow palette, go animalistic and get your paws dirty with Chris’ Tiger King inspired tiger print dye job.

3. Sora

For those looking for a punk and grunge refresher, take after Sora’s blonde and black do by bleaching contrast strips of hair throughout your fringe. This method of hair dye is versatile and easily switched up to suit a variety of color combinations and hair lengths. But judging by the popularity of Sora’s trademark hair, it might be worth considering a choppy cut to fully embrace that scene kid appearance.

4. Kane Caples

A key feature of Kane Caples’ skating TikToks is their unforgettable and unmissable blazing bright hair – an accurate reflection of their animated personality. And it’s to no surprise that Kane’s quarantine dye job is a combination of all the right ingredients: self-love, color and confidence. Why’d they do it? “I’ve been loving myself a lot lately.”

Use your dye-job as a window to your soul, whether it be through hearts or any shape you desire. And whilst you’re at it, take after Kane and make a TikTok with an uplifting reminder to “always remember to love yourself.” At least you know it’ll be skater approved.

5. Tatiana Ringsby

Without a doubt, Tatiana Ringsby has perfected the art of hair flips, and her recent hair dye job has only served to elevate that. Instead of a Y2K middle part, keep your hair voluminously swept to the side with a wild aqua and blonde streak.
