Moe Black guides Sheesh Magazine through six days worth of fashionable fits.
Monday
Starting off the week strong, Moe Black went for a chic look with a monotone sweater vest and pant combination, and colorful glasses to add some character! The sweater vest is from Nasty Gal, the brown ribbed pants are from ASOS, the sunglasses are by Arnette, and the button-up is just a vintage men’s work shirt.
Tuesday
This streetwear look filled with neutrals was worn for a quick matcha run to start off Moe’s Tuesday morning. Moe pairs leopard print flares from Daisy Street with ASOS platforms and a sweatshirt from Parade, her favorite underwear company. Finally, she topped off the look with a matte leather jacket which is one of her favorite thrift finds!
Wednesday
“Funny enough this really looks like I’m in some winter wonderland but it’s literally the parking lot of an industrial park, and I happened to stop for a photo!” This stunning winter look is based around the purple cardigan that all of Moe’s fans are now obsessed with, which is from a Depop vintage seller. Moe’s sunglasses are the same ones from Arnette, and the leather top and bottoms she looked fabulous in are both from Pretty Little Thing.
Who are some of your style inspirations?
MOE BLACK: Obviously, Devon Lee Carlson. I feel like everyone in our generation is so inspired by her, she’s such a style icon. Other than that I really really love how they would dress the weird side characters on Disney channel. The quirky characters like Harper from Wizards of Waverly Place or something— they would intentionally put outfits together that didn’t go actually together but I loved it. Pinterest as well! I feel like with Pinterest I don’t need to know the person or invest in them, I can just be inspired by their style and I really love that.
Thursday
Moe kept it comfortable and casual to get take out food on this Thursday. Her bag is the coveted Lolita Jade fuzzy bag we’ve been seeing everywhere, the shoes are her favorite platforms from ASOS, and the matching sweat set is New Girl Order, which she states is her favorite stop for funky clothing!
Friday
Rocking a business-casual look, Moe spends an afternoon on the town. Once again in her favorite ASOS shoes, Moe’s top is from Pretty Little Thing, and her perfect jeans are thrifted Lee Denim. To top it off Moe put on a straight cut blazer from Nasty Gal, and a colorful necklace by VirgoHoe on Instagram!
What are some of your current favorite fashion obsessions?
MOE BLACK: Currently I’m really obsessed with colorful sunglasses, like the Arnette and Gucci ones. I used to not like that style of sunglasses but I think they are really fun to style. I am also really into 60s and 70s inspired fashion currently. I really like it when you can tell something is from a different decade like shaggy coats, patterned tights, and funky glasses. I feel like the fashion world is a little bit of everything right now, so I am really trying to focus on decade style because it’s really interesting and fun.
Saturday
Ending the week with the perfect Canadian tuxedo, Moe crafted this whole look for her weekend adventures with her boyfriend. Moe’s shoes, adorable bucket hat, and her famous denim mom jeans are all from ASOS. To create the denim on denim look, she paired the jeans with a stunning denim corset from Pretty Little Thing and a thrifted Levi’s jacket. Her cute mint bag is super sentimental, as it is handmade by her boyfriend’s cousin. This is a super stylish way to end off the week!
Do you have any advice for how to be comfortable experimenting with personal style?
MOE BLACK: I really feel like everyone needs to have that cheesy movie moment where you try outfits on alone in your room with music blasting. You need to allow yourself to have that moment alone, where you can feel good and feel confident in your clothes, because if you don’t then there’s no way you’ll feel confident wearing it out. It’s important to decide whether you are not comfortable in your outfit generally, or if you are just not comfortable wearing the outfit out in public. Because if you are comfortable in it inside your room, but not outside the house, then it’s just a fear of judgement to not be able to wear it in public. Whereas, if you are genuinely not comfortable wearing the look then that is a whole other internal issue that needs to be recognized and worked on. Everyone needs to realize that you are cool enough as you are and nobody is looking at your outfit with judgement. Everyone really is in their own little world, the public is not looking at your fashion choices and judging them; they’re all invested in their own lives. So wear whatever you’re comfortable in because literally no one cares.
