Trevor Gorji is nothing short of a modern day cult hero. He’s built up an impressive following among skater boys and streetwear fanatics, all of whom eagerly anticipated today’s drop: the infamous One In The Chamber, now available in a white and grey colorway.
Properly appropriating the archetypal Nike silhouette and swoosh is an ambitious pursuit for any designer. While most brands miss the mark on this, Two Tooth Trev hit the bullseye. Trevor adapted otherwise familiar footwear to fit a playful pseudo-Western style, and his keen attention to detail allowed this to be executed so well. Trevor’s design goes beyond the obvious placement of a skewed gun to include: bandana paisley panels, bullet hole toe perforations, precise sole engravings, ammo reserves around the heel, and an old fashioned ‘WANTED’ poster under the tongue. Not to mention, the iconic singular bullet looms in the chamber just above the ankle.
One in the Chambers have been highly sought after since their original release in a red and black colorway back in November 2019. And, of course, this demand is reflected by the various Grailed listings upwards of $600, despite the original retail price of only $187. Comments on Trevor’s most recent promotional posts for the sneakers are filled with wanna-be buyers begging for the chance to beat out the “bots” and snag these before they sell out. However, from personal experience, I can confirm that it is simply not humanly possible. The One in the Chambers were gone before any hypebeast hopeful could even draw their credit card info. As Trevor so eloquently put in a recent Instagram photo, “bots 1, Trevor 0”.
But all this fanfare begs the question, are these shoes really worth the hype?
Short Answer: Yes.
Long Answer: The deliberate design and detailing of these shoes exceeds expectations for most brands, let alone a brand founded and ran by a 21-year old. The intricacies make it obvious that Trevor Gorji prides himself on quality and originality. He managed to take something we’ve all seen before, and twist it to be unlike anything else on the market. For their creativity, craftsmanship, and modest retail price, the One in the Chambers are certainly worth the hype.
