Ryan Woods is a talented singer/songwriter who first gained recognition by posting covers online. Today Ryan is a signed artist, looking forward to releasing his first single “Bad Texter” on June 17th.

At an early age, Ryan Woods had the chance to perform in front of people and express himself musically through programs at his church and school. After joining his school’s concert band, he learned to play percussion instruments and then went on to teach himself piano and guitar.

Growing up, Ryan noticed how young singers like Justin Bieber and Shawn Medes were able to gain significant attention after going viral online. “That’s what inspired me to put my singing videos on social media, which ultimately got me kinda discovered.” In fact, Ryan’s manager discovered him back when he was just 16, and streaming on the app YouNow. A slew of viral videos later, Ryan has garnered over 20,000 followers on Instagram, all eager for him to release new music.

So far, Ryan has only released original songs on Soundcloud, but he will be bringing his music to major streaming platforms like Apple Music and Spotify on June 17th. His first single “Bad Texter”, which SHEESH! got a sneak peek of, combines a playful upbeat sound and catchy lyrics with the story of a complicated relationship. Although his music is influenced by a diverse array of genres, it certainly has a synth, bedroom pop feel.

For Ryan, music has always been a reflection and an expression of emotion. “What I like about making my own music is I can kinda be my own favorite artist, because I can make exactly what I want to hear. And my own music understands me perfectly.”  When asked what the writing process is like for him, Ryan said “It’s typically pretty different every time I write a song, I’ve never had a routine, whether it’s with writing or anything, so I kinda just let whatever inspires me, inspire me.”

Unlike most other things, music was something Ryan could work on for long periods of time without losing focus. “I’ve always been really easily distracted my whole life. But music was the one thing I could focus on for long periods of time.” By channeling that focus, Ryan has been able to create meaningful and instantly likeable music that you’ll surely become a fan of.

Presave Ryan Wood’s first single ‘Bad Texter’ here and stream it everywhere on June 17th.
