Q: What are your current pursuits?
Raeann: I love storytelling. I recently published my first ebook, although writing isn’t my natural strength. I prefer telling stories through visual content and plan on committing to that for now. I have future business ventures that are long-term pursuits. I wouldn’t say I’m an entrepreneur, but I feel like what I’m doing is a business, so it is fair to say I am a young businesswoman.
Q: What are some aspirations you’re striving for?
Raeann: I was a big dreamer when I was young. I set these crazy goals for myself, but I somehow feel closer to accomplishing them every day. I always wanted to be a New York Times bestseller, on Forbes 30 under 30, and receive the Nobel Peace Prize. I know these are all titles that seem far-fetched. I genuinely believe that you can accomplish anything you want in life and the only thing that can stop you is yourself.
Q: What sparked the inspiration to share healthy practices with others?
Raeann: I love sharing my life with others, and I know everything I’ve learned about positivity and mental health can bring so much value to others. Social media can be such a dark, negative place, and I want to only put content out that makes the people watching feel good. If sharing my personal life on social media can help inspire, motivate, or positively influence just one person, then I will.
Q: At the moment, what’s important to you?
Raeann: My mental and physical health is always my priority. I’m sharing my journey across my social media platforms. I sometimes feel accountable for helping others through what they’re going through and being a positive presence. A little backstory about myself, my father was murdered when I was ten years old, and my mother became addicted to drugs when I was in high school. During crucial times of my development, there wasn’t a single influencer that made social media platforms a place of genuine positivity. I feel like the positivity I offer is justifiable because I’ve been there, and I want to help others with what they’re going through. I realized that for me being an influencer, I want to inspire others to love themselves and love others. I am becoming the person I needed when I was younger, someone I could look up to and teach me how to really live a good life. It’s been a long journey coming.
Q: It’s apparent that your lifestyle goes beyond healthy eating habits; what is the most essential factor in living a well-balanced life?
Raeann: The most crucial factor is self-awareness of what you want to change in yourself. I always say if you’re going to compare yourself to anyone, compare who you were yesterday to who you want to become tomorrow. If you could picture the best version of yourself possible and strive to become that person every chance you get, you will eventually figure out what changes you need to make to align with your highest self.
Q: Who are a few people that inspire you?
Raeann: Being the eccentric person I am, it’s hard to find someone to look up to that I would define as an ideal positive influence. Everyone who’s built an empire or is extremely successful seems to lack genuine happiness. They’re absent of happy and healthy core values despite their triumph. Which is understandable given the intense sacrifice it takes to become so successful. The person who inspires me is the healthiest and happiest version of my future self that ideally wakes up at 5 am, drinks green juice, and still manages to pull 12-hour workdays. There needs to be a pioneer of an ideal influence that isn’t a consumerist who’s hurting others or the environment and has an overall positive impact on society.
Q: What’s the best advice you’ve received, and what’s the best advice you can offer?
Raeann: Social media has created a generation of people who have anxious and comparative habits. Often people see Instagram models who seem to have it all together when that may not be the case. Comparison is such a negative tendency that can seriously harm one’s mental health. The best advice I received was to appreciate what you wish you had in others. I genuinely believe that the universe leaves nothing unnoticed, and because of that appreciation, you may be gifted with the unexpected. Many people nowadays, mostly due to social media, tend to feel as though they’re behind in life. The best advice I can offer to others is you’re in competition with no one other than yourself. You’re going to win in life no matter what, so long as you make you and your happiness a priority.
