During these troubling times, creative expression is especially valuable and even more powerful. Thanks to technology, art and ideas can reach beyond physical bounds, and connect people creatively even if they are distant socially. Thus, it’s no surprise that some creatives are using this time to experiment with new ideas, and design projects intended to uplift spirits.
Marta Pozzan is an Italian actress, entrepreneur, and influencer who is doing exactly this. In an attempt to inspire her followers, she crafted an impressive visual project that illustrates the balance between dark and light. And despite quarantine, she worked with a team of photographers, musicians, and graphic designers over Zoom to complete this mixed media project.
The group of artists who developed this project were scattered throughout the United States, Australia, Italy, and the United Kingdom. So without technology, collaboration during these times would have been impossible. The importance of technology at a time like this is further highlighted by the use of virtual reality. In the final project, there is a virtual reality avatar of Marta Pozzan, complemented by music from Nicky Night Time and visuals by Elliott Routledge. Despite the challenges social distancing has brought, art is the light in this time of darkness for creative individuals.
We hope to see more creatives adapting to these new conditions, and making innovative art inspired by the isolation of social-distancing.
